About Us

CORPUS is a pionner in developing and setting of Directives 2002/95/CE and 2003/108/CE on waste of electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) and Directive 2006/66/CE on batteries an accumulators waste in Spain. WEEE Diretives have been replaced by Directive 2012/19/CE. CORPUS has collaborated with Spanish authorities and collectives schemes for WEEE business solutions.

Did you know…

How much damage can a battery do?

Once the pile in the soil degrades, it begins to release highly polluting elements such as mercury, lithium, lead, or cadmium. They will be harmful for more than 1000 years.

How much water can contaminate a pile?

To contaminate 6.5 million liters of water, only 11 mercury oxide or 40 alkaline button batteries would be needed. The smaller, the more toxic they are.

What energy is needed to produce a Pile?

Making a battery consumes 50 times more energy than it produces and it is estimated that the current generated by each battery is 450 times more expensive than that generated by the electrical network.
